Curly Q hat

This hat start out with this pattern. But, instead of braids, I was inspired by my oldest daughter's crazy curly hair to add crocheted curly-Qs. I also changed the mesh hat to make more sense to me. So I took some mint green and pink and green variegated scrap baby weight yarn and made this.

The next time I tried it, I used 2 shades of purple and a purple variegated worsted weight yarn and three different sized hooks and made this.

It seemed a little heavier than I wanted though. Then a friend asked me to make one for her 9 month old. So I bought pink and pink variegated baby weight yarn and made this.

It works much better with the lighter yarn, especially for the smaller wearers. I consider this hat my "first baby." It is the first thing I made from my own pattern that someone liked enough to ask if I would make them one.

Topsy Turvy

This is my first topsy turvy doll. I've always liked them, the inspiration for this one I found here. I used this pattern for the head, half the torso, and the arms. The hair is basically a brown hat. I used worsted weight yarn. I used a G hook for the head, torso and arms. I used a H hook for the clothing and a F hook for the hair. Then I kind of eye balled the dresses. I decided that she didn't need a face. I thought that the imagination potential of the doll would be even more if my daughters had to imagine the face, too. I also have a 6 year old and a 4 year old and I will be working on dolls for them in the near future. I plan on doing Sleeping Beauty and Rapunzel.
